The new year is a great time to plan some fun things to do throughout the year that keep you energized, especially when the weather is dreary during fall and winter. While travel may not be something you want to do just yet, that doesn’t mean you can experience something new locally! If you’re looking to create a 2022 bucket list, here are 22 things to do in Vancouver and throughout Clark County.

1 – Have a Staycation at The Olde Library Inn

We all need to relax sometime! Plan a staycation for 2022 at The Old Library Inn in Ridgefield. This incredible bed and breakfast just opened in 2020, so you may not have discovered yet. Once you do, will want to make yearly plans to stay in this former-library.

2 – Indulge at Truly Scrumptious

Truly Scrumptious is a new bakery in Camas. It’s a must for any 2022 to do list. Filled with sweet treats, they even cater to allergies, allowing everyone to enjoy.

3 – See the Incredible Equines at the Washington State Horse Expo

Back after a hiatus, if you have never attended the Washington State Horse Expo, you are missing out! Plan on attending the Saturday night Extravaganza where incredible equestrians will thrill you with dazzling performances. Trick riders, horses at liberty and drill routines are just some of the acts.

4 – Start a Flock

Maybe you’ve been thinking it would be nice to have fresh eggs each morning, or looking for some natural pest control. Chickens can do both! The Retirement Home for Hens in Ridgefield can help you start your flock.

5 – Visit The Gathering Place

Completed in 2021, you may not have had a chance to visit the The Gathering Place at Washuxwal, located near the Two Rivers Heritage Museum. The Gathering Place is a longhouse-inspired, 10,000-square-foot-space that hosts educational and community programs. Be sure to check it out in 2022.

6 – Rediscover Kazoodles

Kazoodles has now been owned by its new owners for a full year, have you stopped in? If not, take time to rediscover this incredible toy store in Vancouver. Kids and the young at heart will love it.

7 – Support Small Businesses

Small businesses keep our money local and have a major impact in our economy. Spend some dollars at local stores with the Night Market Vancouver and Pop Local in 2022.

8 – Explore Camas

Camas is such a fun town to explore! Be sure to add Camas to your things to do in 2022 list. There are tours and other activities that will keep you returning throughout the year.

9 – Walk, Picnic or Just Sit for a While at Battle Ground Lake

Nothing like a bit of outdoor time! We all need more fresh air, so make 2022 the year you visit a park at least once a week. Battle Ground Lake is a great one to visit, full of history.

10 – Check out Ash Tree Farms

Do you love mushrooms? Then a visit to Ash Tree Farms better be on your 2022 to do list. They are the mushroom masters, and can help you pick out the best ones for whatever dish you are making.

11 – Try a New Place for Coffee

We have lots of options for coffee and it’s always fun to try somewhere new! In 2022, why not check out Hidden River Coffee Roasters in Camas? They have hand-picked imported coffee beans for just the right flavors.

12 – Create a Garden

Maybe your front yard looks a little less than perfect after all the weather we’ve had. Refresh and renew with a focus on creating a garden that’s a wildlife habitat. Get inspiration with a trip to NatureScaping of Southwest Washington Wildlife Botanical Gardens.

13 – Check Out the New Battle Ground Mural

Check out the brand new, 100-foot mural on the wall of the Andersen Dairy in Battle Ground. It took 12 years to create and should definitely be on your 2022 bucket list.

14 – Take a Ridgefield Walking Tour

Learn more about the history of our area while getting some exercise with the Ridgefield Walking tours. You can take a self-guided one, to go at your own pace—allowing you to stop and shop, eat or rest whenever you wish—or take a guided tour.

15 – Discover Dandelion Teahouse & Apothecary

Dandelion Teahouse & Apothecary opened in 2021, so you may not have discovered it yet. Be sure to correct that in 2022! The incredible store features signature tea blends, apothecarial herbs, natural skincare products and goods from other local merchants.

16 – Have a meal at Farrar’s Bistro

If you’re looking for a family-friendly restaurant or low-key date night spot, try Farrar’s Bistro in 2022. Located in the Felida neighborhood in Vancouver, they feature fresh, local comfort food.

17 – Participate in Savor the Couve

Happening until March 2022, you have plenty of time to take part in Savor the Couve, a fun—and delicious—activity. Each week, five restaurants will collaborate on 150 five-course dinners for two.

18 – Go on a Clark County Winery Tour

You don’t have to travel south to enjoy a wonderful day, or weekend, of wine tasting. We have plenty of amazing vineyards right here! Make 2022 the year you go on a Clark County Winery Tour.

19 – Escape with Family and Friends

If you haven’t tried an escape room, add this experience to your 2022 to do list. Businesses like Escape Experience in Vancouver change their rooms often, so plan on going more than once!

20 – Take a Day Trip to Grays Harbor for a History Hike

If you love local history, take a day trip to Grays Harbor for a hike! There are plenty of places along our coast that are full of rich history, and you will get some exercise too.

21 – Learn to Dig Clams

Make 2022 the year you learn to dig for clams! Several nearby beaches have clam digs through the seasons so you can harvest your own, fresh and perfect for frying or baking.

22 – Volunteer to Help Animals

Sometimes our bucket lists including doing more good. In 2022, add volunteering at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington to your to do list.
