The Board of Directors of A Caring Closet is proud to announce the appointment of Ava Rose as the organization’s first Executive Director. This marks an exciting milestone in A Caring Closet’s growth, having operated as a volunteer-led organization since its inception in 2016.

“Ava brings a rare combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and genuine heart for community service,” said Sara Scheetz, Co-founder. “Her experience helping organizations build capacity and strengthen their impact makes her the ideal leader to guide A Caring Closet into its next chapter of  serving our community with compassion and integrity.”

Ava is a believer in the power of community-based solutions to meaningfully improve societal health and wellbeing. As a nonprofit consultant, Ava specialized in board development and strategic planning, helping organizations of all sizes build capacity through clear goals and effective programming. Across previous roles in startups, program management, and education, Ava has worked at every organizational level, from volunteer to leader, and uses that diverse experience to build thriving organizations through strong community engagement, operational excellence, and creative problem solving.

“It is a dream come true to bring my experience and skills to drive meaningful impact at A Caring Closet,” said Rose. “I’m honored to join our incredible volunteers in their deep commitment to supporting our community, and I look forward to expanding our reach and strengthening the essential service we provide.”

A Caring Closet provides free gently used durable medical equipment to individuals in need throughout Clark County and the Portland metro area. The addition of an Executive Director represents an important step in ensuring the organization’s sustainability and capacity to meet growing community needs.
