  • Beat the Clock & Grab the Pick of the Crop: Head out early in the season for first dibs on the absolute best gourds, and show up first thing in the morning if you want to dodge the afternoon crowds.
  • Embrace the Mud-Ready Footwear: Wear comfortable shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. As autumn rolls in, squishy mud becomes a package deal!
  • Dress for Pacific Northwest Chaos: Check the sky before you go – you might need heavy-duty sunscreen, a rain umbrella, or both in the same hour.
  • Cash is Still King: Plenty of farm stands take cards, but keeping paper money on hand ensures you won’t get stuck at a cash-only cider or snack booth.
  • BYO Gloves: Pumpkin vines are surprisingly prickly! A sturdy pair of gardening gloves will save your hands while you hunt down “The One.”
  • Protect the Ride: Line your trunk with cardboard or heavy-duty plastic trash bags so your fresh, muddy prize doesn’t ruin your car’s interior.
  • Do a Quick Recon Mission: Check the farm’s website or call ahead to double-check dog policies, specific pumpkin varieties, and ADA accessibility before you buckle up.
