Something for Everyone: 2017 Summer Events in Vancouver and Clark County

It’s summertime and the warm weather is finally here. As much as we all love this time of year, sometimes it can feel like there is nothing to do. Especially for the kids. They are out of school and loving no homework, but how many times do you hear, “I’m bored” from your children? Luckily there is no shortage of summer events in Clark County for every age and interest. From free family movies at the library to beer and wine festivals, there truly is something for everyone. So check out this list to quell the summertime boredom blues for the whole family.

Battle Ground

  • Rock Your Community. July 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Battle Ground Community Library. Decorate a river rock and place it around town as a surprise for someone else to find. Supplies will be provided but you are more than welcome to bring our own rock as well.
  • Battle Ground Village Outdoor Market. Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through September. Located at 819 SE 14th Loop.
  • Rusty Grape Vineyard Movies on the Lawn. Fridays at dusk to September 1. The Rusty Grape Vineyard is showing movies on their lawn at 16712 NE 219th Street in Battle Ground. Visit their website for list of movies.
  • Harvest Days Parade & Festival. July 15. Carnival Rides, Fred Meyer Grand Parade, an Xtreme Amateur Sports Competition, musical talent show, and more. Saturday night concert featuring Josh Gracin. Festival is free. Tickets are $50 for the concert and only 30 will be sold. Camas

  • Camas Public Library Free Summer Movies. A free family movie is shown every Wednesday at 2 p.m. now through August 23. Free popcorn is served. To see list of movies playing, click
  • Camas Farmer’s Market. Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. until October 4 located in front of the Camas Public Library.
  • 12th Annual Camas Car Show. July 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m in the historic downtown blocks of Camas. Car registration is $15, free for spectators.
  • Camas Days. July 21-22 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. a two day festival featuring arts and crafts vendors, concerts in the park, food street, parade, ducky derby, softball tournament, gated wine and microbrew street, bathtub races and more. Ridgefield

  • Ridgefield Public Library Movie Marathon Weekend – On July 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Ridgefield Public Library will be showing all three moves of The Hobbit trilogy in a row. Then, on July 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. watch all three movies of The Lord of The Rings.
  • Ridgefield Farmer’s Market. Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through September 30 at the Overlook Park.
  • NW Largest’s Garage Sale. July 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm. at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Generally admission is $5 for adults, Military with ID $3. Kids under 12 free. Early bird admission, $20.
  • Clark County Fair. August 4-13 at the Clark County Fairgrounds. For complete information, visit the Clark County fairgrounds website.
  • Comedy In The Vineyard. August 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Three Brother’s Vineyard & Winery. Featuring several national comics that you will not want to miss. Come out with your lawn chairs or blankets.

Vancouver

  • Vancouver Public Libraries Summer Reading Clubs. The different branches all have weekly summer reading clubs for families with children of all ages. Songs, rhymes and stories are shared. Visit the Vancouver Public Library website for more information on the days and times.
  • Vancouver Farmers Market. Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through October 29. Located at 6th and Esther Street.
  • Salmon Creek Farmers Market. Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through September 26. Located at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital.
  • Clark County Historical Museum Walking Tours. Every Friday at 12:00 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in July. Cost is $10 ($8 for CCHM members). Visit their website for more information.
  • City of Vancouver Summer Movie Series. Free movies at different parks throughout the city all summer long staring July 7. Free admission and pre-movie activities start at 7:00p.m. For list of locations and movies, visit the city’s website.
  • English Estate’s 10th Annual Art & Wine Fair. July 8-9 at the English Estate Winery. 40 local artists and 2 stages with live music. Free admission.
  • Bad Monkey Open Disc Golf Tournament. Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9 from 7:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Leverich Park. 3 rounds of challenging golf on the course, coffee and snacks throughout the day, a player’s party Saturday evening, lunch on Sunday and an awards ceremony and raffle. Cost to participate $24.95-44.95.
  • Saturday in the Park Pride. Saturday July 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Esther Short Park. Free family-friendly gay pride event.
  • Twilight Half Marathon, 10k and 5k. July 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Vancouver Lake Park. Flat, easy course with many souvenirs to choose from including a huge owl medal, matching owl flashlight, and a one-of-a-kind, glow-in-the-dark owl tank top. Benefits the Children’s Cancer Association.
  • Cruise the Couve. July 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 pm in downtown Vancouver. Watch over 1,000 classic cars cruise up and down Main Street while exploring 22 blocks of entertainment. Free.
  • 3 Days of Aloha in the Pacific Northwest – Hawaiian Festival. July 27-29 in Vancouver. Includes workshops, competitions, a run and a festival. For more information visit their website.
  • Vancouver Brewfest. August 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., August 12 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and August 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Esther Short Park. Sample brews from more than 35 Northwest breweries. Ticket prices TBD. Check website for details.
  • Columbia River Triathlon & Multi-sport Festival. August 18-20 at Frenchman’s Bar Park. Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlon, Duathlon, AquaBike, Girlfriends, All Women’s Triathlon/Duathlon/AquaBike, 5k & 10k runs, Kids Triathlon and more, all set along the beautiful Columbia River.
  • Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival. August 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., August 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and August 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Located at Esther Short Park. The 20th Annual Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival is recognized as the “signature cultural event” for the City of Vancouver and Southwest Washington. Admission: $25-35.
  • Labor Day Weekend Food & Wine Pairing. September 2-4. SW Washington wineries in Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Vancouver, and Yacolt are participating. For more information visit the SW Washington Winery Association’s website.

Washougal

  • Rock Your Community. July 5 at the Washougal Community Library from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Decorate a river rock and place it around town as a surprise for someone else to find. Supplies will be provided but you are more than welcome to bring our own rock.
  • Weird Beer on the River Festival. Friday, July 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at 24 S A Street in Washougal. Sample over 50 beers from more than 25 breweries. Festival is a benefit for CSM Caregiving Services. Pre-purchased tickets are discounted to $17 and can be ordered here.
  • Reebok Spartan Sprint. August 19 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, dependent on heat. Located at the Washougal Motocross Track. Washougal MX Park is known as America’s most Scenic Raceway. Only one of three natural terrain raceways in America, Washougal MX Park is a perfect spot for a Spartan Race. Admission $79-154 for participation, $20 for spectators.

With so many events happening every weekend, the hardest part will be deciding what to do. No matter what events you decide to go to, one thing is for sure, you will not have a boring summer in Clark County.
