Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and Battle Ground Chamber Council Announce Award Recipients at Annual Recognition Banquet

Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce (GVCC) and Battle Ground Chamber Council announced the award recipients in each of the following categories for the Battle Ground Annual Recognition Banquet held on February 21, 2019. Award recipients were accompanied by their guests and joined by community members at the sold-out event presented by Columbia Credit Union.

One individual/business in each of the following categories were honored: Lifetime Achievement Award, 2018 Citizen of the Year, 2018 Outstanding Youth of the Year, 2018 Business Person of the Year, 2018 Business of the Year, 2018 Teacher of the Year, 2018 Coach of the Year.

This year’s Award Recipients are as follows:

“Lifetime Achievement Award” recipient is Mavis Nickels, community activist and member of the Battle Ground School District Board of Directors.

“2018 Citizen of the Year” is Lydia Sanders, of the Family and Community Resource Center, Battle Ground Public Schools.

“2018 Outstanding Youth of the Year” is Tyler Venneri, student at Battle Ground High School.

“2018 Business Person of the Year” is Kendra Laratta, owner of Ink Ability.

“2018 Business of the Year” is First Sight Family Vision, formerly named Richardson Eye of Battle Ground.

“2018 Teacher of the Year” is Daniel Hidden, Sophomore English at Battle Ground High School

“2018 Coach of the Year” is Rob Smith, head wrestling coach at Prairie High School.

The Battle Ground Annual Recognition Banquet is a celebration of individuals and organizations, committed to community and service. The award dinner was held on February 21st at the Battle Ground Community Center with nearly 150 guests in attendance. All attendees were served plated dinner by Chelatchie Crossing, while treated to gifts at their tables by the event’s table sponsors.
