Humane Society for Southwest Washington Delivers Summer Camp Fun and Animal Education at Home

Submitted by Humane Society for Southwest Washington

Now more than ever, kids are eager for activities that capture their interest. That’s why the Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW) put a new spin on animal fun by bringing its Discover Camp to kids at home!

“Kids get quickly engaged when it comes to dogs and cats and educating our youth about animal welfare is so important,” says HSSW’s Discover Camp Instructor Elizabeth Holden. “With this tailored approach, campers learn all about the world of HSSW from the comfort of their own homes.”

Kid “campers” get to virtually meet shelter animals via Zoom, explore a new topic each week, and play games with shelter staff and other campers during the session. Weekly subscription boxes (one per week over the four weeks of camp) brimming with animal-related information appear in each camper’s mailbox filled with puzzles, games, and crafts. In addition, kids get to complete service projects like educational posters and magnets that inform the community on the best ways to help animals. VCA is HSSW’s Youth Education sponsor for these fun activities.
