It’s time for corned beef and cabbage and putting on our green t-shirts! There is nothing like Irish-American food, making March one of my favorite months of the year. While the pandemic has changed a lot, you can still have a fun St. Patrick’s Day thanks to our hard working pub and restaurant owners. Here is where to find corned beef (and other Irish fare!) in Clark County for St. Patrick’s Day 2021.
McMenamins
1900 NE 162nd Avenue, Suite B107, Vancouver
360.254.3950
1801 SE Columbia River Drive, Vancouver
360.699.1521
McMenamins Pubs are having a St. Patrick’s Day Shindig you won’t want to miss. March 8-17, all ages are welcome to come and there is no cover charge. Look for McMenamins own Irish Stout being served up during the celebration, along with food and drink specials. Feast on Irish Fries Are Smiling, which are French fries with cheese and ale sauce, crisp bacon, sour cream and onions; Ruben sandwiches; MacSleyne Irish stew served with soda bread; colcannon; and of course corned beef and cabbage. If you haven’t had colcannon, it’s a delicious, traditional Irish mashed potato dish you will want to try. And don’t forget to finish your meal with their Irish coffee, made with McMenamins St. Patrick’s Day Blend espresso and Tullamore D.E.W Irish Whiskey, topped with whipped cream. Select locations menus may vary, so call ahead if you are wanting something specific. They also plan on having live music and bagpipers at certain locations as well.
Shanahan’s Pub & Grill
209 W McLoughlin Boulevard, Vancouver
360-735-1440
Shanahan’s Pub & Grill is currently operating on a limited menu, so it’s best to call ahead. They have several fun, Irish-themed dishes, however, that will make anyone dance a jig. For something different, try The Fightin’ Irish burger, with a beef patty, corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss and Shany’s sauce. Or The Dublin, an upscaled Ruben with braised corned beef, sauteed onions and peppers, topped with provolone cheese and horseradish on a hoagie roll. Or how about Irish BBQ hot wings? And of course, they have Guinness on tap.
Grady’s Public House
2714 NE 114th Avenue, Vancouver
360.433.9569
Grady’s Public House has some great Irish fare for St. Patrick’s Day. Start with some Irish nachos, which are fries or tots with cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, onions, olives and sour cream. Chicken or beef can be added too. Then choose between some of their traditional fare such as a cottage pie with Irish soda bread, Bangers and Mash, or a Ruben. They are offering take out. Check their website for March Madness specials that are to be announced.
Dulin’s Cafe
1929 Main Street, Vancouver
360.737.9907
Dulin’s Cafe is another good choice for St. Patrick’s Day celebrating in Vancouver. Voted best breakfast and lunch in Vancouver, you can’t go wrong. They have plenty of Irish fare to choose from, including breakfast and lunch items. For early risers, have Irish banger sausage or one of their three Irish potato dishes. For later on, try a Ruben or Irish stew. They recommend pairing their Ruben with a Guinness Stout or Harp Irish Lager! Be sure to finish off with an Irish Coffee.
Joe Browns Cafe
817 Main Street, Vancouver
360.693.6375
If you would like to get a meal with some Irish flavor that is not in a pub, try Joe Browns Cafe. They have
corned beef hash with freshly cut potatoes served with two eggs and toast. Or try a corned beef omelet with cheddar cheese. Breakfast is served all day, so have these favorites anytime, or head to the lunch menu and feast on their Ruben, which is served with American potato chips. You can order food to go by calling 360.693.6375.
Old Town Burger and Breakfast
813 W Main Street, Battle Ground
360.666.0522
Old Town Burger and Breakfast is a great place to get a Ruben on St. Patrick’s Day, anyway you like—walk in, call in or online ordering that is! They have corned beef hash for those looking for a breakfast meal too.
Kilted Spirits Irish Pub
1926 Main Street, Washougal
360.844.6787
Kilted Spirits Irish Pub in Washougal is another great stop for St. Patrick’s Day. Although they closed at the end of January, they are supposed to be opening soon – we hope! They have house-made Irish fare through a variety of menu options, and of course, Irish beer and spirits, including 50 Irish whiskies! Minors are allowed until 8 p.m. Check the Kilted Spirits Facebook page for more information on opening.
