Restaurants have always been looking out for ways to increase business during traditionally low periods. Many businesses decided to use happy hour as a way to bring in customers with discounted drinks. Recently, however, several restaurants have adopted this idea for more than just drinks, with some offering fantastic deals on sides, salads, appetizers and sometimes even entrees.
Typically, happy hours ran late to cater to the crowd after dinner, but afternoon happy hours have been gaining traction as well. These restaurants target the slow period between lunch and dinner time, usually between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., though times may vary slightly depending on the individual restaurant. And when it comes to the new afternoon happy hour, Clark County has no shortages of places to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for fast food, sushi, or a bar and grill, you don’t have to pay full price.
Fast Food
If you’re in a hurry, you might not have the time to stop by somewhere and would prefer something quick. Several fast food and chain restaurants have started offering happy hour specials that might do the trick.
Carl’s Jr.

When Carl’s Jr. decided to introduce their slider burgers, they didn’t do it alone. Along with it came the establishment’s first ever happy hour deal, with a single item; the new double slider burger discounted from $1.50 to $1 each. While the savings may seem trivial, at over 30% off, you can get three for the price of two if you go between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Arby’s
Like Carl’s Jr, Arby’s has also recently gotten into the slider game. Along with these being discounted between 2 p.m. and 5.p.m. they also have small shakes, curly fries and drinks at a discount.
Taco Bell
At Taco Bell, the happy hour is pretty basic. Drinks such as sodas and freezes are a dollar between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and some locations include loaded grillers as well.
Sushi
One of the most popular types of eateries to have an afternoon happy hour is sushi restaurants. Many types of rolls are steeply discounted in price, but not on quality.
Mio Sushi

Mio Sushi has two locations in Vancouver. Each location offers a special discounted menu between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Sushi Chiyo
Most places that have a happy hour don’t have it on Saturday and Sunday. But Sushi Chiyo has it every day from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with all plates being under two dollars.
Longhouse
Longhouse is a restaurant in the new Illani Casino in Ridgefield. Their special happy hour menu is at an unusual time, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. This makes it perfect if you’re looking to catch an early dinner on a budget.
Thai Orchid Restaurant
One of the few made-to-order sushi places in Vancouver that has a happy hour, Thai Orchid Restaurant has huge discounts between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. with half off all sushi rolls with the purchase of a drink.
Bar and Grills
Many, if not most bars have a late night happy hour for discount drinks. Fewer have one in the afternoon, and some have it and also include deals on food as well as drinks.
Cascade Bar & Grill
If you’ve been thinking of trying the famous nachos of Cascade Bar & Grill, their happy hour between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. is a great time to try them for under three dollars, along with other sides and of course, drinks.
McMenamins
For one of the most comprehensive afternoon happy hour menus around, it’s hard to beat McMenamins. Their 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. specials include chips and salsa, fries, tots, hummus, sliders, pizzas and more, along with a variety of discounted drinks.
Three Sixty Kitchen & Bar
A little bit of everything is available at the 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. happy hour at Three Sixty Kitchen & Bar. Corn fried oysters, rosemary garlic fries and fried wings are options along with daily pizza specials and the famous Three Sixty Burger.
Killer Burger

Peanut butter on a burger? It’s not as strange as it sounds. With the self-named “Crazy Hour” between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Killer Burger, it’s the perfect time to give it a try. The peanut butter pickle bacon burger and several others are two dollars off, along with dollar soft drinks and discounted microbrews.
Luxe
For an afternoon happy hour that’s a little different, Luxe has several modern American options every day but Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parmesan and pulled pork fries along with house-made wine are of the options you can get at a discount.
